BUILD Grant Support

Senator Bailey and the St. Mary’s County Delegation sent a letter to the United States Department of Transportation in support of federal grant funding for the Maryland Route 5 Great Mills Improvement Project.  This grant would go towards widening Maryland Route 5 (Point Lookout Road) from Maryland Route 471 (Indian Bridge Road) to Maryland Route 246 (Great Mills Road) in Great Mills.  This project would include adding two new travel lanes to Route 5, constructing new sidewalks and bicycle lanes, and replacing the existing bridge over the St. Mary’s River.  This project would help make this part of Route 5 safer, improve the quality of life for residents and commuters by easing traffic congestion, and support future economic development in the area.
