Day 24 – Hunting on the Shore

On Saturday morning, Senator Bailey and his children attended the Mid-Shore Maryland National Wild Turkey Federation Chapter Youth Waterfowl Hunt near Chestertown.  The youth were treated to some fantastic hunting opportunities, with professional guides who donated their services.  After hunting, the participants and guides met at the Rock Hall Fire Department for a Jakes youth event.  The Ladies’ Auxiliary of the Fire Department served an awesome lunch; there were smiles all around.  Thanks to the land owners, guides, Ladies’ Auxiliary, Mid-Shore Maryland NWTF Chapter, parents, and volunteers who made Saturday such a success.

On Saturday evening, Senator Bailey attended the Installation of Officers Ceremony for the Mechanicsville Volunteer Rescue Squad.  At this event, Senator Bailey gave citations to members of the rescue squad to honor members for the length of their service and dedicated volunteerism.  It was a special honor for Senator Bailey to present Dr. John Roache with a Governor’s Citation and a Senate Resolution in addition to a Senate Citation for 60 years of volunteer service.

On Monday evening, Senator Bailey presented two more residents of District 29 to the Senate’s Executive Nominations Committee.  Senator Bailey introduced Judge James Tanavage, who has been appointed to the St. Mary’s County District Court.  Senator Bailey also introduced Major General Timothy E. Gowen, who has been appointed to serve as Adjutant General, who oversees Maryland’s Military Department.  As Adjutant General, Major General Gowen will oversee 4,500 Army National Guard soldiers, 1,400 Air Guard airmen, 145 members of the all-volunteer Maryland Defense Force.  The Military Department also has control of the Maryland Emergency Management Agency and the Opioid Operations Command Center.
