On Friday afternoon, Senator Bailey returned to St. Mary’s County to attend the installation ceremony for James Tanavage to serve as a Judge for the District Court of St. Mary’s County. Senator Bailey made brief remarks and led the Pledge of Allegiance at this ceremony. Governor Hogan appointed Judge Tanavage to this role in December after Senator Bailey’s recommendation for this position. Judge Tanavage has an excellent reputation in the legal community for his temperament, knowledge, and fairness. We are fortunate to have him serving St. Mary’s County in this new capacity.
Following the investiture ceremony, Senator Bailey attended the St. Mary’s County Farm Bureau Dinner in Leonardtown. At dinner, Senator Bailey heard the concerns of our local farmers and what the General Assembly can do to help improve farming in Maryland. He also had the opportunity to discuss bills that he is working on for this session that relate to agriculture in District 29.
On Saturday, citations were presented on behalf Senator Bailey and Governor Hogan to the Brady Family to honor their service to the Hollywood Volunteer Fire Department. The Brady Family was recognized for being the first father and two sons to be elected to serve as Chief of a Volunteer Fire Department in the State of Maryland. Later on Saturday, Senator Bailey attended the Seventh District Volunteer Rescue Squad Installation Ceremony. At this ceremony, Senator Bailey presented citations to members of the Seventh District Volunteer Rescue Squad and Rescue Squad Auxiliary to honor the length of their service and dedicated volunteerism.
